My Top Five Movie-going Experiences With My Mom

My Mom is a truly amazing and loving person. She has done so many amazing things. And perhaps the most amazing thing she's ever done for me was introducing me to the world of cinema. My passion, the thing I love most in the world. And I've had some incredible experiences in the world of cinema. Here are my top five Experiences I've had while watching movies with my mother. And one more thing, THANKS MOM!

Starting off at number 5,

Yesterday.

Yesterday is a movie about a struggling musician named Jack who wakes up one day to realize that no one remembers legendary band The Beatles. (As well as band Oasis, Cigarettes, and Harry Potter.) The movie is awesome as a fun and joyful experience with amazing music. We watched this in a theatre in Prince Edward Island on a family road trip. Then when we left the theatre we drove back to our campsite blasting Beatles songs at like 12:30 in the morning. I'll always remember the fun I had then.

Yesterday was a truly amazing time for me. But this one definitely was even greater.

Number 4, Saving Private Ryan.

Saving Private Ryan beats Yesterday for one reason, it's the single greatest movie of all time. I remember the last part of the night well. The squad was defending a town from the Nazi's, and
(Spoiler Alert)
Tom Hanks' character gets shot, and Private Ryan (Matt Damon) rushes to him to see if he can save him. But when he gets there he realizes it's too late. Tom Hanks is dying! (I'm tearing up already.), but with his last ounce of strength, he whispers to Private Ryan, "Earn This". The rest of the movie I forgot because I was too busy bawling my eyes out. But I remember that was the day I realized movies are what I loved. And as a bonus, that was also the day I STARTED How I Met Your Mother. The greatest TV show of all time. What a night.

Number 3,

The Breakfast Club.

Before this, I had been wanting to watch this movie FOREVER! But sadly, no streaming service offered it. So when we went to Northern Ontario on a road trip to Pancake Bay provincial park, they bought me the DvD to watch in our minivan. So when we got to the campsite, I think day 5 out of 8, we all drove down to a beach lookout, we popped in the DvD and watched Breakfast club at the beach. And partway through we went down and took a swim.

Number 2, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Picture this, it's my 13th birthday, and it's 8:00. I've opened my epic presents, putting away my new DvD's while my dad sets up my popcorn machine. (Damn right, I have a popcorn machine.) I knew we would be watching a movie because that's what I love to do. But I was expecting a small movie party with a few snacks and a soda for everyone. Little did I expect to come down and see OUR ENTIRE DINING ROOM TABLE LINED WITH 5 OF EVERY CANDY AND CHOCOLATE BAR AND CHIP FLAVOR KNOWN TO MAN! AND THEN TO LOOK UP AT THE MANTLE AND SEE 15 CANS EACH OF COCA-COLA, PEPSI, NESTEA, AND 7UP! They called it the "Teen Canteen", in honor of me just becoming a teenager. We watched Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and had SUCH an amazing night. Truly the best birthday celebration ever had. (MOVE OVER CHRISTMAS!)

And finally, number one, the greatest experience I've ever had watching a movie,
Jurassic park.

For the record, this happened NOT EVEN A WEEK BEFORE THE 13TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.
The world was opening up again (At least for the time being). And to celebrate, we went to see Tom and Jerry the movie in the Cineplex Odeon in Ottawa. When the movie ended, we went to the nearby Kelsey's to grab dinner. Then my parents dropped it on me, we were going to have a movie theatre double feature, watching Jurassic Park, in a PRIVATE MOVIE THEATRE! We got to see Jurassic Park in the theatre, which was legendary enough for me, but we got to see it from whatever seat we wanted, and we could move anywhere mid-way. And let me just say, Jurassic Park is ONE MILLION TIMES BETTER ON THE BIG SCREEN!

With all of these amazing times watching movies with my mom, it's no wonder that movies are the thing I love. Not as much as I love her though. THANKS MOM!
